Keppen

In order to contain, re-direct and discharge magical charge, our Clan employs instruments carefully constructed from Stone, bone and wood, which are known as a Keppen. The Keppen here is constructed from thorn, tipped with a prehistoric sharks tooth (Carcharodon Megalodon) bound with Bluebell glue. The Sharks tooth was a family heirloom, originating from Khouribga (Morocco) and is approximately 45 million years old. Some on line theorists suggest that Robert Cochrane used the Keppen Rod as a symbol of magisterial authority and to cut the furrow between his hallowed ground and the outer world. Some believe it is related to the Cipin of Gaelic traditions (a small stick to kindle fire) which filtered down into lore held by the Society of the Horseman's Word, who described the Cipin as a wooden peg for tethering horses.
